I am usually a Vogue magazine lover. I try to buy it every month and endlessly scan the photos gaining inspiration. This month Elle tickled my fancy! Partly because the new Vogue wasn’t where I work at the time, partly because Keira Knightley graces the cover of March’s Elle and partly (mostly) for the freebie of this Roller Lash mascara from Benefit!
I have quite short eyelashes as you can see in the above image. (Sorry about the fact the before photo is taken on my phone and the after on my camera. It was simply because of the lighting. It wasn’t a choice of mine as all it does is highlight my extremely dark eyes.)
The mascara is a miniature version, the kind of size you would put in a travel bag so it is very cute. The actual wand is one that I am usually not keen on. I find these wands are really good at separating my lashes but not really adding length or volume. This is the complete opposite for this mascara as it definitely lengthens and adds volume. I don’t feel the photo I have taken shows this to the fullest as I was really, very pleased with the end result.
The only issue I have is that it is definitely a mascara that needs building up. It isn’t one that gives you amazing lashes after two applications. It is a case of going over it several times. However there is a positive to this which is that I didn’t have to double dip (does that sound right?!) the wand on each lash. One dip was enough it was just then going over it a lot.
I am happy with this mascara and would recommend it upon its release although I feel there are mascaras on the market which would be a lot cheaper and do as good a job such as Maybellines’ Falsies. The end result is amazing and as you can stop at whatever looks good for you, it is perfect for any occasion. If you aren’t sure then I would also recommend buying this months Elle as you get to try it for the £4 price of the magazine so, why not?!
