I know the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream and the Wonderstick have been endlessly blogged about but I wanted to add my opinion to the mix! I have owned the Wonderstick for a couple of months now but have only had the lip creams for a week! I’ll start with the lip creams!
I picked up both Copenhagen and Abu Dhabi. I literally want every colour as I also want every colour in the Lingerie range but I thought I’d start with these. Abu Dhabi: a nice everyday nude and Copenhagen: a deep purple / pink colour for the evenings / Autumn although I’ll probably wear it in the daytime too!
The product applies creamy and drys matte although I’d say they aren’t completely matte. On a scale of 1/10 I’d say they were an 8 on the matte scale that I’ve just completely made up but for £5.50 I’m happy with that.
It comes with a doe foot applicator and I like these applicators. I think they are really precise although I definitely need a lip liner in a similar shade to Copenhagen as you’ll see below.
I love how this lip cream doesn’t dry out my lips and is actually quite moisturising! I find a lot of matte lip products just kill my lips. My only issue with these lip creams is that they apply quite streaky and I think it’s a bit evident in the images below. I found it worked best to apply as a typical sweep initially and then to dab the product downwards on my lips afterwards.
I really, really love these two lip colours and I really love the product in general. It’s incredibly long lasting as long as you aren’t eating in which case reapplication is of course necessary. Of course there are better out there but for £5.50 I think these are good and well worth the money. I need to get my hands on some more! They also smell like cakes, what more could I ask for?
On to the Wonderstick…
I usually pick up contour products in dark but I picked up natural in this as I wanted something I could wear a little more subtly and possibly build up. The contour shade does allow me to contour for an everyday natural shade and I know that’s what it says but it surprised me as by looking at it it doesn’t look that much darker than my skin tone. The product blends nicely but definitely can’t be built up as it just makes me look cakey because it’s so creamy!
I really like the highlight shade but I don’t think it’s amazing. It applies as almost a champagne colour and like the contour it blends really easily. Again, my only problem is that it isn’t buildable and in my opinion there are better highlight products. The highlight end of the stick also broke on me after one use without reason – obviously fixable but pretty annoying!
I like the NYX Wonderstick but I don’t think I will repurchase it. I have definitely realised cream contour isn’t for me and I much prefer powders!
