I tend to get sudden urges to go and buy beauty products and as I said in my favourites, May was really a skincare month for me. Make-up obviously is fun and comes with more experimentation however, skincare is #1 in beauty and I’ve really loved exploring / teaching myself more about skincare this month.
If you have read my blog for a while then you’ll know I love my trusty Micellar Water that I reviewed in a Favourites post and I continue to use it now and will continue to do so, however I wanted to try Clinque’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. You might be reading this thinking only now? Fair point because it’s not new and it’s had amazing reviews for such a long time but I’ve just been content on using other products. Long story short, I bought it as well as another product for my sister and that meant that 1. I received a little makeup bag of treats – see this offer here and 2. A free consultation for both my sister and I in July. I’ll probably blog about the consultation but this post is about Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and my first impressions on the free gifts!
As I said, you’ve probably heard of this before / used it before but it’s a new one for me. I really love the packaging of this product – nice, simple and pretty! On to the product, it doesn’t have a smell at all. I guess for many that is a good thing, it doesn’t really phase me all that much but I am usually one for nice smelling products I can’t deny it! The balm has the appearance of lard (I’m not selling it so far am I?!) although a little softer. Once you take a little bit of the product and massage it in to your skin however, it transforms in to a creamy milk texture! I then rub this all over my face, paying the most attention to my eyes (unless I’ve used an eye make up remover) and wait until I can feel as though all product is off my eyes / lifted from my face. Be warned, you will have major panda eyes! Once, all make-up is lifted, you then simply go and rinse your face with water and hello fresh face!
I can’t even begin to explain how much I’ve fallen in love with this cleansing balm and I will 100% buy it again when I’ve used this one up. You don’t need much product at any one time and then you’d need even less if you use a eye makeup remover beforehand so I don’t think this will be for a while yet! I definitely recommend this product to anyone. It’s craziness how it changes to a creamy texture and then leaves skin feeling incredibly soft.
On to the gift set. The 6 freebies came inside the colourful striped Clinique makeup bag …
This came in shade Woppin Watermelon and is a really good size for a freebie – it will literally last me ages! If you don’t know how the Clinique Chubby Sticks work then they basically twist upwards to reveal more of the product. I’m not usually one for lip balm to be honest, I’m either a lipstick or a vaseline kinda girl but now I have this, I do like it. Since having this balm, it isn’t necessarily the colour I would’ve picked up had I bought one myself and would be more intrigued by the Two Ton Tomato, Bountiful Blush, Whole Lotta Honey or Oversized Orange (all the colours are amazing but those are my favourite 4) but as it’s a balm, you obviously only get a hint of the colour and it is a nice pink shade. These are definitely moisturising and this is something I’ve really needed lately as I’m going through a dry lip phase annoyingly!
The thing I’ve reviewed the most on my blog is mascaras because I have really really short eyelashes so I love lengthening them as it really does open my eyes! This High Impact mascara is another one to add to my list of good mascaras because I really really love it. It massively defines my lashes without clumping – woohoo! It adds a good amount of length and a very slight curl. I really really like this mascara and as it’s a mini version, it’s so so easy to apply!
I’ll be honest and say this is the one product I haven’t used all that much out of the set but so far, so good. You can feel how softening it is for the skin as soon as you begin applying it and that softness maintains. I wake up the day after with glowing skin and it is just so ridiculously soft to touch. Really liking this so far!
Love this makeup remover! It’s equally as good as the cleansing balm as it really does get rid of my make-up quickly. I shake the bottle before use and apply to one of my trusty Primark cotton pads and it does the job nicely! It sounds ridiculous but I’ve been using the balm more because I’ve honestly been amazed at how quickly it removes the makeup but makeup remover is obviously needed and so helpful!
I’ve been using this a lot recently, mostly as part of my morning skincare routine and I like it! I know it’s in the name but it really is so very moisturising and it leaves my skin with a nice healthy glow without being oily – always a plus.
I love this product! I love using exfoliators / scrubs but I think sometimes they can feel too harsh on my skin and this is completely different. It has small grains within the cream that feel gentle on skin once applying and then rinses off easily. I tend to use this in the morning because it says to use without makeup and I follow it up with my Clarins cleanser, toner and then either the Clinique moisturising lotion or another product and as I’ve said, my skin is left looking so hydrated!
So, those are my first impressions on the free Summer gift set as well as the glowing review for the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm! As always, all opinions are completely honest and I have really really been loving Clinique and I like these freebies a lot!
