The Best Of 2016

I think so many of us will agree that 2016 hasn’t been a great year. Of course we’ve all had great personal moments throughout this year but overall it’s just been a blah year.

Anywho, I wanted to do a round up of the best of 2016 in my opinion just to prove to myself that this year wasn’t all doom and gloom so here we go.

My first standout memory of 2016 has to be witnessing a friend of mine get married. She was the first person amongst my friendship group to get married and it was such a crazy yet amazing thing! It was so special to see and experience especially as I’ve never been to a wedding that wasn’t traditionally English before. It was so good to get our henna done and to wear traditional Sikh clothing. It was a lovely day!

Another top thing to happen in 2016 has to be getting our little family puppy, Lokko. I literally never thought I would love a dog as I’m not a pet person at all but he’s just the best thing ever. I adore him and he’s the cutest little pup.

My third favourite memory has to be my 21st birthday. Going to the Thermae Spa in Bath with my boyfriend, staying in a hotel and then coming back and celebrating it more with family/friends was amazing and I loved and am thankful for every moment of it.

1 – Center Parcs photo. I love it everytime I go to Center Parcs and this photo was from very early last year when my boyfriend and I stayed Mon-Fri. I find it so relaxing being away from everything and being amongst the trees and I love this photo.

2- My little siblings in the Summer. This is one of the cutest photos of them together – they look so happy, the weather was good and it’s just caayuute.

3 – My fave and I for Halloween. I absolutely love getting dressed up / doing more experimental makeup and this Halloween was a good one. I spent it with family at a family house party and then went in to town with my friend Megan to see Lethal Bizzle. It was a good night.

4 – Me, Mum & Sister on my 21st birthday. As you’ve probably heard me say many times, I didn’t take many photos at all on my 21st so this is one of the few and is actually my favourite despite my lipstick being a mess!

It doesn’t even seem real that I watched Deadpool in 2016 as it feels like I watched it ages ago but it was definitely one of my favourite movies of 2016. I love Marvel films anyway but I really enjoyed this film having a more grown up audience & overall different tone. I also love when films break the fourth wall.

Another Marvel film favourite, Captain America : Civil War. As I said, I love Marvel films and I love how this film featured a lot of the Avengers and how it opened the story for new characters whose movies I can’t wait to watch over the next couple of years.

The Jungle Book is of course another movie favourite from 2016. I love The Jungle Book anyway but I couldn’t wait to watch it in live action and it didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to watch The Lion King live action.

I have to include a romantic film of course and for 2016, that is Me Before You. I read the book before watching the film and despite preferring the book (as it includes more), I loved the film so, so much. I just thought the actors were perfect for the roles and it’s just the sweetest yet sad film.

I don’t watch TV half as much as I used to but my number one has to be The Missing. I knew I’d love this as I loved the first series but this one was even better and I was absolutely hooked. I hope they do a series 3.

Great British Bake Off, another favourite and I’m still devastated it’s leaving BBC1 and there will be no more Mary Berry!

Another favourite from way back to the beginning of the year has to be Netflix’s Making A Murderer. Despite the episodes being  l o n g, I was hooked on this and it still makes me angry when I think about everything that was wrong about the justice system through this case – but leaving the rant behind, a great documentary.

Unsurprisingly, my favourite song of this year according to Spotify is Drake ft. Kyla – One Dance. It’s a tune, what more can I say? I’d also think many of Beyonce’s Lemonade album would be on there if it were on Spotify as well.

M A K E – U P

Benefit Brow Zings has to be my favourite makeup product of 2016. I was on this bandwagon late, I know but it is my trusty makeup product and eyebrows have the ability to completely transform your face. It’s slightly on the pricier side but I’ve had mine since April and I’ve barely used any despite using it pretty much everyday. I love it.

Another oldie that I was late to, Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish. I got this as a gift from my brother for my birthday and I just love it. I’m quite lazy when it comes to my makeup but I actually enjoy taking off my makeup when using this.

Another cleansing favourite of this year is Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. 2016 was the year of cleansers for me and I love both of these.

S C E N T

Giorgio Armani – Acqua di Gioia was a Valentine’s gift from my boyfriend and it’s still a favourite for me now. I love how fresh it is.

Another favourite is the Paco Rabanne Lady Million Prive that I was given for my 21st from my brother. I laaaav it.

One I don’t actually own but it’s relatively new and is high on my wishlist. Marc Jacobs – Decadence. Firstly, the bottle is amazing and it smells ammmaaazzzing.

B O O K S

The Little Book of Hygge has to be a book favourite for 2016 as it’s all about cosiness basically and I am all for cosiness. It’s also the cutest little book and definitely one I’ll keep and continuously refer to.

Jojo Moyes – After You has been another favourite book for me this year. Of course I would read it after loving Me Before You and I really enjoyed it.

Finally, I can’t not include my Vogue goes Pop colouring book from my boyfriend for Christmas. I fell in love with this as soon as I seen it and I just can’t wait to start colouring it in.

C O L O U R

You may call it a tone, but for me my favourite has been grey. Boring to some, but for me it’s perfect. My favourite colour tends to change with the seasons but black, white and grey are year round favourites and I just find every colour looks good with grey and it’s not too dreary and can also look really sophisticated. I love grey.

Those are my favourites of 2016 and it’s absolutely craziness that it’s 2017 but I am looking forward to this year. I’ve got a post including my goals for 2017 coming up in the next few days. Happy New Year and hope you’re well!
