I’ve made this cake twice now, firstly for Niall’s birthday and secondly for somebody I used to work with. I was happy with both but unfortunately for the boyf, the second one was that slight bit better.
The recipe I used was another Jane’s Patisserie one. Promise I don’t only use her recipes, it’s just that it’s the best chocolate cake recipe I’ve tried. I covered the cake with a peanut butter flavoured buttercream (300g butter, 600g icing sugar & 1 full tub of peanut butter). I do recommend using branded peanut butter as this is what made all the difference when I made this cake the second time. You might think one tub is a bit too intense but the cake itself is only chocolate so it balances it out well.
The drip is a bar of dark chocolate melted with a small amount of oil. And for the topping, I used Wilton 1M (again) to pipe icing and then placed Reese’s peanut butter cups between and Reese’s pieces on the icing.
Not tooting my own horn or anything but I really enjoyed this cake actually and I was quite disappointed when I made it the second time and couldn’t have a slice myself.
