Happy New Year! It’s a bit late in the day, but I hope you all had an amazing start to the year. It’s 2018 and I for one, am fully embracing it. As I’ve said, 2017 wasn’t great so I’m happy to welcome a new year and it will hopefully be the year of getting things back on track. So many people criticise the whole ‘New Year, New Me’ mentality, but I think it’s good to set yourself goals and intentions for the year ahead.
I’ve decided to use the word goals this year as opposed to resolutions because these are the all the things I want to achieve throughout the next 12 months. I’m going to try my absolute hardest not to put any pressure on myself (emphasis on try) and instead think of the year as progressive improvements.
The plan is to revert to this list monthly, as well as using my new amazing Trigg diary that I can’t praise enough, to set myself goals and regularly reflect. Hopefully, in a years’ time, I will feel as though I’ve achieved a lot of these or at least took a step in the right direction:
- Be happy in a job
- Eat healthier & get fitter
- More date nights
- Improve blog
- Drink more water
- Use a diary
- Take more photos
- Spend more time outdoors
- Buy only what I need
- 8 hours of sleep a night
- Improve friendships & expand friendship groups
- Go on holiday
Now for my breakdown. First and foremost I need to be in a job that I am happy in because, without this, I’m not going to be able to afford anything else that I would like to do. I know it’s rare for people to love their job, so I’m not expecting to be buzzing at my alarm waking me up and raring to go, but I would like to be content day to day. The income I’ll be getting from said job will allow me to enjoy more date nights with Niall and hopefully a holiday together this year. I also intend to spend more time and make more memories with my friends this year. On the note of friends, I’d love to expand my friendship groups this year & focus on improving the friendships I currently have.
Healthy eating is high on my list and the plan is to find a good balance between following Slimming World from home and enjoying myself. When I get into my lose weight mentality, I tend to get so into it that I forget to enjoy myself and by this, I mean allow myself to enjoy eating out. The problem with this is that when I do have an eating blowout, I get a taste of everything I’ve been missing and then everything goes downhill. So balance, as well as improving my fitness levels is the aim. I just want to be healthy. It’d also be great to not be close to death after walking up a couple flights of stairs.
Reading is a love of mine but digital media takes over my life at times. I want to read all the books currently on my bookshelf by the end of the year and hopefully find some more good reads along the way. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
I want to spend more time on my blog. I genuinely love blogging and it’s one of the only places I feel as though I can express myself. Writing is really relaxing and is an amazing outlet when I have things going on. So, here’s to honesty and maybe sharing too much of my life on here this year.
Self love is high on my list. I’m in the process of writing a post about this but I’m not too happy within myself generally. Mostly physically, so it would be amazing if I could start the process of self love. I don’t want to start the year of pessimistic, but I do have doubts about this as my way of thinking is so ingrained now, I don’t know how easy it will be to change but try is all I can do.
Those are my plans for the next 12 months and the mission starts from tomorrow. I know most people start on the 1st but to me, today is all about chilling and/or recovering from NYE. Right now, I’m led on the sofa with my Mum and Dad opposite, Lokko next to me and we’re watching Eastenders. Happy New Year guys.
What are your goals for the year?
